TREASURER TRUSTEE OPPORTUNITY – MOOR TREES

Now in our 25th year, Moor Trees exists to restore native broadleaf woodland on Dartmoor in response to the climate and nature crises. We provide the local community with unrivalled access to locally sourced and grown broadleaved trees, carefully identified and selected to provide a diverse range of species ideally suited to planting in the South West of England. These are grown in our community tree nurseries, nurtured and tended by a growing team of engaged volunteers. At the heart of our mission lies a powerful purpose: connecting communities, improving biodiversity, and combating climate change – the most urgent challenges of our time.
We are now looking for an experience Financial Professional who can contribute strategically to a charity making a difference to biodiversity and woodland cover on Dartmoor. You will help us grow by maintaining an overview of our financial affairs, ensuring financial viability. We need someone who can span the breadth of assessing the financial implications of our strategic plans to practically supporting the Chief Executive with the preparation of accounts and financial reports to the Trustees. It goes without saying who are looking for someone who is passionate about our work and our vision and will enjoy being part of a committed and motivated Board of Trustees. Trustee Vacancies – Torbay
Update – we have now found a great trustee for this charity, they would like us to continue our search – someone with a marketing background would be of much interest.

The Coalition of Disabled People South Devon, now known as Disability Support Torbay, supports people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities, mental health and long-term health conditions, and carers. The Charity’s registered office and service hub is next to the Town Hall car park in Torquay but supports people in any part of South Devon.
We are a small but important charity whose services are delivered by one full-time and three part-time staff and a highly valued group of volunteers. Our aim is to use our knowledge and experience to make a difference to the people we support, working together to encourage independence, empowerment and respect.
Our main service is supporting people with disabilities and/or long-term health/mental health conditions to complete benefit applications and gather their evidence. We also support appeals with an almost 100% success rate. Client feedback is very positive with 91% feeling less worried after our intervention and an average score of 4.24 from a possible 5 star rating. We also offer help with housing issues, help with other applications eg Blue Badge, a free counselling service and information on local and national provision for individuals.
Currently our core funding comes from the National Lotteries Reaching Communities Fund and we have funding until the end of June 2026. We are working hard to ensure future sustainability beyond this. We have a small Board of long serving, loyal Trustees. We now need to recruit additional enthusiasm, knowledge and expertise to drive the organisation towards sustainability from 1 July 2026. Ideally, we are seeking people who live in the Torbay area and can offer experience and expertise in the areas of financial management, marketing and communications and strategic leadership.

Trustee Opportunities, Exeter

Exeter-based charity, St Petrock and Heavitree Lands Charity has a long history in supporting people with their housing needs and today owns seventy almshouses across the City of Exeter. The charity provides accommodation for local people with limited income, typically of retirement age. As a result of investment portfolio success, the charity has recently been able to complete a new build of twenty-two new almshouses. It is hoped they may potentially be able to repeat this again in future years, thus benefitting a greater number of older people in need of support.
New Trustees are currently being sought to bring additional expertise to the Board in the areas of financial management, social welfare and property and building pathology. The Board meets quarterly in Exeter with sub-committees meeting as required. To find out more about the Charity and how to apply, please download the Information Pack.
