The Westcountry Rivers Trust is looking for a new Trustee. Formed in 1994, the Trust was established to restore Westcountry rivers. Measures to protect rivers can help to save money for farmers, lower costs for water companies, boost tourism, reduce the need to dredge estuaries and even benefit human health. Everything the Trust does is informed by the best available science. Their work is driven by an ‘ecosystems approach,’ considering the function of the entire catchment, not just the rivers that flow within them.
Today this thriving charity works with a wide range of stakeholders from landowners to local communities, businesses, farmers and water companies to restore and protect the rivers, lakes, estuaries and coastal areas for the benefit of people, wildlife and the local economy. In addition, a growing number of individual volunteers and groups are becoming increasingly involved in the work of protecting rivers. We are seeking to support and embrace groups as they form, encouraging them to deliver our remit and targets under our guidance as well as strengthen our educational offer.
We need, therefore, to develop the resources required to do this effectively and are seeking to create an education and engagement fund. We believe that this fund will allow us to sustainably release resources to deliver this work and we are looking to grow both a capital investment sum but also secure annual donations on a rolling basis to go alongside small-scale funding from grant giving trusts.
We are looking for a Trustee who has the experience to guide and support us on how best to meet and work with those individuals and organisations who share our vision and are able to contribute to the development of our education and engagement strategy.
Please contact Jackie Dawkins at Shine Charity Recruitment for further information and additional documents.
Balloons is a well loved and highly respected child bereavement charity working across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. We make a big difference to the lives of children, young people and families through providing bereavement support before an expected death, or following the death, of someone significant in their lives. We like to think we are a small charity with a big presence in our local community.
Our core work is delivering face to face, one to one, bespoke support sessions to 5-25 year olds through a trained team of volunteer ‘Grief Support Workers’. These sessions enable grieving children and young people to tell us how they feel–we are neutral, not a caregiver, not a teacher or other professional. In addition, our young people have the opportunity to attend our Activity Days, participating in a range of activities to enhance their personal sense of wellbeing. We also run a telephone helpline for families and training for professionals. We are proud to have been awarded the Queens Award for Volunteering, as well as recent funding from Comic Relief and Children in Need, which has included being covered on TV.
Our current Chair is due to retire next year, and we are now starting the journey to appoint someone new. The Chair will share our values and work with a committed, friendly CEO, Board of Trustees and staff who motivate, inspire and support each other to make change and give assurance. It is important to us that you will have previous charity Board experience and marketing/income generation/fundraising background would be a great asset, adding to the range of experience at Board level. We are looking for someone who is credible and compassionate, is an active listener, will support healthy debate and empower the Board to be effective in carrying out its role. Our new chair will understand the difference between strategy and operations, will be a sounding board to our CEO and will be a proud ambassador for Balloons, comfortable representing us in a range of settings. For further information about us and to find out how to apply, please download the attached information pack.
Are you looking for an opportunity to help save lives across the UK? If you have the Board level experience we’re looking for, and share our goals and values, then we might just have the role for you.
We’re looking for a new Chair of Trustees to join the Board of Air Ambulances UK (AAUK) – the national charity focused on championing and supporting the lifesaving work of the UK’s 21 air ambulance charities. This young charity has been through a forming stage over the last three years and we are now looking forward to building on our achievements and an exciting future. This is an excellent time to be joining us as we continue to deliver our five-year strategic plan ‘Saving More Lives Together 2021-2025′.
Our new Chair will be able to demonstrate experience of effectively chairing meetings, encouraging scrutiny and respectful challenge, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard and that the Board remains focussed and strategic. This is a high-profile role with a national charity, so we need someone with an engaging and inspiring communication style and who is able to represent us in a professional and confident manner. Naturally, a good understanding of charity trusteeship and governance is really important. Equally important is finding someone who shares our core values of Trust, Collaboration, Innovation, Excellence and Kindness.
We welcome applications from people who are not well represented at Board level, and although this role is not remunerated we pay all relevant and reasonable expenses associated with being a Trustee.
For further information about the role and how to apply, please download our Information Pack. Our retained recruitment partner, Jackie Dawkins of Shine Charity Recruitment, will be happy to speak to you further about trusteeship and the work of the AAUK.
