TRUSTEE OPPORTUNITY – Clare Milne Trust
The Clare Milne Trust funds registered charities and other organisations, supporting people living with disabilities in Devon and Cornwall who can demonstrate that they are small and well run.
Clare Milne was the granddaughter of A.A Milne, the author and creator of Winnie the Pooh. She was much loved by family and friends and was full of life despite the challenges of living with cerebral palsy. In 1998 Clare received a significant sum of money following the sale of the copyright royalties from her grandfather’s books and the Trust was formally set up in 1999 by her mother, Lesley Milne and their family solicitor and friend of many years, Michael Brown.
We are actively looking to appoint a new trustee who will be based in Cornwall or Devon and can bring fresh thinking and new skills to our Board. We are also keen to hear from people with lived experience of disability, their carers and advocates. Trustees bring different skills, experiences and perspectives, all really important and valuable in our work, ensuring a healthy approach and objective discourse. Previous board experience is not a pre-requisite, with a welcoming induction, mentoring and opportunity for training; we work as a team with a supportive approach.
